The body is needled felt — fibre tangled into a mat rather than woven, so there is no warp or weft to pull apart when a child drags it across carpet.
Handles are the part that fails first on cheap baskets. Here they are doubled over and stitched through the wall, then reinforced with a metal eyelet or a leather wrap, so the pull is spread across the panel instead of tearing a single seam.
The base is a separate panel joined at the seam line — visible in the photograph as the stitched run along the bottom edge. No glue, so there is no adhesive line to soften in a warm warehouse.

Because we needle the felt and sew the basket ourselves, the shape is a variable rather than a fixed catalogue item — six body profiles and fourteen handle constructions are already tooled, and a new silhouette can be patterned from your drawing.

What buyers ask before the first order
Is the basket safe for toddlers?
There is no rigid frame, no sharp edge and no small detachable part. The felt walls flex under pressure and the handle is stitched through the panel, so it will not pull away in normal use.
Does the large size hold its shape when full of toys?
Yes. The wall is dense enough to stay upright, and the stitched base panel keeps the footprint square. Very heavy loads will bow the long side slightly — that is normal for a soft-sided basket and recovers when emptied.
How flat does it pack?
It folds along the corner seam to roughly the thickness of a few felt layers. The fold line sits on the corner rather than the middle of a face, so the shipping crease does not show on the outside panel.
Can the shape be changed to an animal silhouette?
Yes. Six body profiles are already tooled and a new silhouette can be patterned from your drawing. A shaped basket adds a cutting and stitching step, which is reflected in the sampling time quoted with your enquiry.
Which handle holds up best for children?
The felt strap with a metal eyelet spreads the load across the panel and is the more durable option for daily use. The leather grip is the better choice where the basket is also a decorative piece in the room.
Can I order the three sizes in one carton?
Yes. Mixed size and mixed colour cartons are arranged at packing stage — specify the ratio per carton when ordering so the packing list matches your warehouse intake.
What is the minimum order and can I start smaller?
500 pieces per colour and size is the standard minimum. A smaller trial run can be discussed for a first order so you can test the shelf before committing to a full programme.
How is the felt cleaned?
Vacuum or brush the surface. For marks, spot-clean with a damp cloth and mild soap, then air dry fully before folding — folding a damp basket will set a crease.
