Organic 100% Natural Wool Dryer Balls | 4 Sizes 3-8cm
Organic 100% Natural · 4 Diameters · Tianjin Factory
These organic wool dryer balls are felted from 100% natural wool and supplied in four diameters — 3cm, 5cm, 7.5cm and 8cm — so one product line covers everything from delicate baby laundry to heavy bedding. In the tumble dryer they separate the load so warm air circulates, which shortens drying time, softens fabric and controls static without liquid softener or dryer sheets. They are machine washable too: run them through the washing machine on a hot cycle to refresh them, dry them fully, and the same reusable set keeps working for 1,000+ loads.

Four things buyers check before committing to a wool laundry ball: does it actually soften, is it safe on a baby’s skin, does it present well on a shelf, and can the shade be matched to a brand. These are the answers.

Diameter is the one specification that actually changes performance. A small ball suits a small drum and a light load; a large ball is what carries a bulky one. This range covers the whole span, so you can stock one size or a mixed carton.
| Diameter | Inches | Typical use | Usual order |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3cm | ≈ 1.18 in | Delicates, baby laundry and compact dryers; also sold as an add-on to top up an existing set | Samples, mixed sets |
| 5cm | ≈ 1.97 in | Standard household loads in a normal-sized tumble dryer | Retail 6-packs |
| 7.5cm | ≈ 2.95 in | Large loads, towels and bedding — the size most private-label ranges settle on | Retail 6-packs, private label |
| 8cm | ≈ 3.15 in | Heavy fabrics and commercial laundry where a bulky load has to be split apart | Wholesale, OEM |
Other diameters, including 7cm, are produced to order — the ball photographed above is the 7cm version. Shade is fully customisable, so a mixed-size carton can be colour-matched to your brand.
Performance comes from wool fibre, airflow and density — and from using the right diameter for the load you are drying.
Replaces Fabric Softener
Softening comes from physical agitation against the wool, not from a chemical coating, and one reusable set replaces years of softener bottles. Skip the liquid softener entirely and the towels still come out fluffy rather than stiff.
Shortens Drying Time
The balls roll between layers of wet fabric and hold them apart, so hot air travels through the load instead of around a compressed bundle. The wool also takes up surface moisture early in the cycle.
Clean Enough for a Baby
100% natural wool with no fillers, no synthetic core and no fragrance — so there is nothing to leave a residue on baby clothes, towels or sensitive skin.
All three soften laundry. Only one of them is still working after a thousand cycles.
| Compare | Organic Wool Dryer Balls | Dryer Sheets | Liquid Softener |
|---|---|---|---|
| How it softens | Physical agitation against felted wool plus airflow between layers | Chemical softener coating transferred in the drum | Chemical softener deposited in the rinse |
| Repurchase cycle | Reusable for 1,000+ loads | Single use, one sheet per load | One bottle every few weeks |
| Residue on fabric | None | Softener film builds up over time | Softener film, and it reduces towel absorbency |
| Scent | None unless you add essential oil yourself | Fixed fragrance | Fixed fragrance |
| Chemical content | Wool only | Surfactants and fragrance carriers | Surfactants, emulsifiers and fragrance |
| Machine washable | Yes — hot cycle refreshes the wool | No | Not applicable |
| End of life | Fully biodegradable | Landfill | Plastic bottle plus chemical residue |
A wool dryer ball is a mechanical tool, not a chemical one. As the drum turns, the balls roll between layers of fabric and hold them apart, so warm air flows through the load rather than around a compressed wet bundle. The wool also takes up surface moisture early in the cycle — precisely the mechanism that keeps static from building — and that combination is what lets towels, bedding and denim come out soft without a softener.
Wool’s moisture-buffering behaviour is documented by the fibre industry — see what the wool fibre does, from The Woolmark Company — and responsible fibre sourcing is described in the Responsible Wool Standard from Textile Exchange.
Four steps. The balls live in the tumble dryer, and the washing machine is how you keep them working like new.

Match the diameter to the drum and the load. 3cm suits delicates, baby laundry and compact dryers; 5cm handles standard household loads; 7.5cm is the usual choice for towels and bedding; 8cm suits heavy fabrics and commercial laundry.
Three to four balls for a small or medium load, and five to six for a large load, bedding or towels. A standard six-ball set covers one full large load, which is why most retail packs are sold in sixes.
Yes. They are used in the tumble dryer, and the washing machine is how you clean them: place them in a mesh laundry bag and run a hot cycle with no detergent, then dry them fully before their next tumble cycle.
Yes. They are made from 100% natural wool with no fillers, no synthetic core and no added fragrance, so there is no softener film to leave a residue on fabric. That makes them suitable for baby clothes, towels and sensitive skin.
For softening and static, yes. They soften through physical agitation against the wool rather than a chemical coating, and the wool’s moisture buffering suppresses static. What they will not do is add scent — add two or three drops of essential oil to one ball if you want fragrance.
A reusable set keeps working for 1,000+ drying loads. When the balls start to look noticeably smaller and looser, the wool has compressed past the point of doing its job and the set should be replaced.
They will still separate the load mechanically, but most of the drying-time benefit comes from air moving through the separated fabric, so a normal warm cycle is where the effect is strongest. Static control depends on the wool buffering moisture, which also works best in a standard cycle.
Yes. Diameter, shade, printed logo and packaging are all customisable — natural white as standard, or matched to your brand. Wholesale MOQ is 360 pieces and a free sample is available so you can check the felt density before ordering.
