Weymouth Borough Council wants to build a wood-fired sauna near the Pier Bandstand opposite the Prince Regent Hotel in Weymouth.
If approved, the sauna will be open for hire to individuals and groups between November and February.
A planning application submitted to Dorset County Council proposes to build a “field sauna and ancillary barn” in the style of a shepherd’s hut.
The sauna centre will be run by Revive Wild Sauna, which said in its application it would offer significant discounts on midweek sauna sessions to support community groups such as the Blue Tit Saltwater Swim Group.
The sauna will be similar to the one the company already operates at Bowleaze Cove, with glass windows offering sea views.
