The most basic usage method is as follows: Before putting wet clothes into the dryer, simply throw the wool felt balls into it, and then start the drying process normally. The key issue lies in the quantity – in most cases, 4 to 6 balls are the most effective. Why 4 to 6? Experiments show that if there are fewer than 4 balls, the frequency of collisions between the balls is insufficient, making it difficult to achieve a continuous “loose effect”; if there are more than 6 balls, the internal space of the machine is overly occupied, which actually affects the rotation of the clothes and the circulation of hot air. For standard capacity dryers at home (7 to 10 kilograms), 6 is the golden number. If the drying volume is small or the clothes are particularly lightweight, 4 is also completely sufficient.
In addition, there are several practical tips: If you want to add a bit of natural fragrance, you can drip two or three drops of natural essential oil (such as lavender or tea tree oil) onto the felt ball, then put it in the dryer. The clothes will emit a faint fragrance. But be careful not to use too much, as excessive oil can stain the clothes. Also, after some time of use, the felt ball may start to shed fibers. This is a normal phenomenon. You can simply trim them off with scissors. It will not affect the performance at all. After about one year of use, if you feel that the ball has become harder or the rolling effect has decreased, you can gently wash it with warm water and neutral soap, and then let it air dry naturally to regain its activity.
