A businesswoman whose shop had luxury bags worth tens of thousands of pounds stolen is urging people to be wary of thieves selling bags online.
Police are investigating after Evey’s Preloved showroom in Mill Hill, north-west London, was smashed with a sledgehammer and valuable watches stolen at around 22:40 GMT on Tuesday.
Evie Emery, 57, said she felt “very sad” after the robbery but people were “very kind and genuine”.
No arrests have been made, but Scotland Yard said officers responded quickly and were collecting CCTV footage as investigations continued.
Ms Amery, who said she spent years building up her business selling second-hand designer bags, believed the burglary was “carefully planned”.
Making an appeal for help, she said: “I want colleagues to really pay attention to what is happening: people can buy stolen goods without even realising it.
“I’m not global, I’m not corporate, I love my job. I love selling, I love communicating, I love second-hand goods.”
“I’ve gotten some amazing comments: people genuinely want to help, and that says a lot about their character.”
