An interesting purchase of a sauna hat on Amazon turned into a strange purchase after receiving a drug based on blue scorpion venom.
Journalist Megan Day wrote a story this week about her own delivery misadventures, when she ordered a ridiculous felt sauna hat with the word “oligarch” printed on it in Russian and it finally arrived.
But instead of a hat, she receives a medicine containing blue scorpion venom. The package came from Ukraine.
The same hat and the same seller RussianBear on Amazon are still listed on the site, but the item is “currently unavailable.” That’s terrible.
Over the weekend, Day said she had returned the money for the hat, but the scorpion venom was now hers.
Even more absurd is that Day is a writer for the left-wing magazine Jacobin, whose articles include “You Can’t Trust Capitalists.”
