Despite all the talk about wireless devices, tech gear still consists of a jumble of bulky chargers and cables, plus at least one adapter and, for those who travel frequently, a mouse and a portable power bank. If all your stuff is loose and disorganized, it will end up at the bottom of your bag or, worse, forgotten at home when you go to the office or on vacation.
Tech bag organizer pockets ensure all your gear is neatly organized and easy to access. They come in all shapes and sizes, and we’ve rounded up and tested the best tech bag organizers to help you choose the one that’s right for you.
I travel a lot and have an organized tech travel bag with all the extra gear I need so that when it’s time to pack, I can just grab it, throw it in my backpack, and know I have everything I need for a worry-free tech trip.
Some tech bags have compartments for dozens of cables, pockets for chargers, and compartments for headphones, mice, and batteries. Other tech bags are simpler and have just one or two compartments for carrying a set of tech tools. The important thing is that the bag can stand on its own and is compact.
In our list of the best storage bags, we’ll look at the essential tech devices you might need to carry around with you, but still store them neatly. Some can be worn on your body, while others can be used as a shoulder strap.
Here are the best tech cases and bags we tested to help you organize cables, chargers, and other devices.
The Tripped Tech Traveller is a medium-sized bag with multiple compartments that, as the name suggests, is designed for vacations and business trips. This well-designed bag is made of durable 900D polyester and features all-weather YKK zippers, a soft protective lining, and leather handles and zipper pulls. It can be placed vertically on a table.
Two internal zippered pockets (one of which is mesh so you can see what’s inside) provide extra protection for your most valuable items, like an SD card or mini SSD. The external side pocket is large enough for your phone or other items you need quick access to.
The middle section of the case has nine small, divided pockets of varying sizes for cables and small devices. The large open side is ideal for storing bulky items like laptops or phone chargers. Since this is not a digital item, there are four pen holders at the top of the interior.
The Tripped tech Traveller is a high-quality tech bag available in a variety of colors that can be stored next to your desk, in a tent, in a suitcase or backpack.
Designed in collaboration with organization expert Marie Kondo, the Orbitkey 2-in-1 Bag doubles as a tech organizer to help you keep your home tidy and inspire the joy of organization.
It has a clever 2-in-1 design that allows you to remove the smaller internal desk pocket if you only need access to the smaller gadgets inside. There’s also a fold-out divider to customize the bag—unfold it to expand the storage space for larger items like power adapters.
Both parts of this 2-in-1 bag feature plenty of interior pockets and compartments to store essentials of varying sizes. We like that the exterior zippered pocket has a hole for the charging cable, so you can charge your phone with the power bank inside and still have plenty of room for your phone.
The bag, which has received the Kondo seal of approval, is decorated on the inside with a Japanese sashiko wave pattern, which the manufacturer says symbolizes “the flow of energy and the joy of cleaning.”
The Orbitkey 2-in-1 Tech Bag is made from recycled polyester and PET plastic and has a waterproof outer layer. It only comes in one color, stone, which looks great and makes it stand out from the crowd of dark tech organizers.
In addition to the range of elegant and fun colours, we also like the Alpaca Elements Tech Case Max because it can be converted into a sling case using the included Mini Pro Strap with magnetic closure. There’s also a built-in carry handle.
There are plenty of compartments inside (large enough for an iPad Mini), one with a discreet magnetic closure and one with a zipper, for a total of 12 pockets, including a zippered front compartment.
It comes in two versions: Axoflux recycled polyester or X-PAC recycled nylon, which has zero carbon emissions. The X-PAC diamond pattern feels more water-resistant. The product is made of 95% recycled polyester and 5% faux leather, and has a waterproof lining. The cover is made of wrinkle-resistant fabric and can be partially folded, maintaining its shape even when squeezed.
The color range is wide, depending on the fabric choice. We like the limited edition pink, but there is a color for everyone.
The Troubadour Caboodle Tech Case 2.0 is a little deeper than the Tripped Tech Traveller, but it’s roomier and softer, but has fewer interior compartments and pockets. There are no interior zippered pockets, but there is a roomy exterior pocket for easy access.
Made from 95% recycled polyester and 5% faux leather, it has a waterproof lining. The cover is made from wrinkle-resistant fabric and can be partially folded to maintain its shape even when squeezed.
What we love about the Bellroy Tech Kit is that it opens completely, making it easy to find or place the tech supplies you need.
There’s enough space inside for one person’s belongings or for a family that can share a charger and cables. For those who live or travel together, it’s always convenient to have the same gadgets (even if in different colors) because you only need one charger (preferably multi-port) and the same type of cable.
It has fewer pockets than competitors like the Tripped Tech Traveller, but you can find what you need faster, and while the sections aren’t as organized, it does make it easier to find things.
If you need to carry fewer tech accessories, Bellroy also sells a Tech Kit Compact version (17 x 13 x 5.5cm), as well as a more open but smaller Tech Caddy version (24 x 15 x 8cm) with an internal zipped compartment, each available in a variety of attractive colours.
This luxurious handmade tech organizer has a soft construction, but the high-quality genuine leather feels durable and luxurious.
There are six slots for cables or pens/stylus and two large pockets, as well as space for an A6 notebook.
Its special additional feature is the matching key ring, which can be pulled out when needed. It is held in place by magnetic and sliding connections.
This super-smart tech organizer has a hard shell but is covered in luxurious, genuine soft pebbled leather sourced from animal-friendly Scandinavian farms.
The bag opens easily for easy access and features two mesh pockets, one zipped pocket and elastic straps for storing small tools.
Woolnut is very proud of the Japanese YKK EXCELLA zipper on the outside of this bag, which is considered one of the most unique metal zippers in the world.
It’s definitely at the higher end of the market and would look equally at home on a designer magazine shoot as it allows you to safely store all your cables, chargers, headphones and other gadgets at the bottom of your suitcase or backpack.
Woolnut also offers a thinner, softer leather bag in similarly muted colors. It’s not as rigid as the Tech Organizer, but it does have two interior flat pockets next to the main compartment that are large enough to hold your phone, small chargers, cables, and other essentials.
The company offers a full range of matching leather storage and protection solutions: in addition to organizers and bags for your tech, you can also purchase sets with laptop and tablet cases, iPhone cases, card holders and passport covers.
Premium menswear brand GRAMS28 offers three gorgeous tech organizers made from genuine Italian leather, each of which can be worn as a stylish crossbody bag using the included strap. The brand has just released a green version to join its stylish black leather bags.
The 131 Basic Bag has a 2.5 liter capacity and features multiple interior pockets, multiple mesh pockets, one zippered pocket, a pen pocket, and a side pocket. The 131′s waterproof, two-way zipper provides easy access to your protected gear.
The 132 Essential Case Pro is larger, with a 3-liter capacity. It’s big enough to fit small headphones, a passport, or even an iPad mini. It has an accordion-style flap.
Topping the line is the 133 Essential Case Max, a 4.5L case that holds your camera, mid-size headphones, and all your other tech gear.
You can use the bag or case as an internal backpack organizer or display them beautifully on a desk, but we love that each of these organizers can be used as a crossbody bag, worn over the shoulder, or across the body, and they also feature a dedicated loop for attaching an adjustable shoulder strap.
Larger than the other tech organizers we tested here, the Apex Sling is the little brother of one of our recommended laptop backpacks, the Troubadour Apex.
This is a lightweight, waterproof tech bag that can replace a large backpack when you want to travel light and only take the essentials. Wear it over your shoulder or by the non-slip handle.
The main compartment has enough space (5.5 liters) for things like a laptop charger, power bank cable, or an umbrella just in case. The interior has zipped and open pockets, as well as an easy-to-access zipped front pocket.
There’s a secret pocket on the back that can hold your phone, passport, or valuables. There’s also an AirTag pocket so you can track the location of your strap if you forget it. A padded pocket will protect your iPad mini or other small tablet.
According to Troubadour, the FortiWeave fabric is made from recycled plastic bottles, is fluorocarbon-free and water-resistant. The trim is faux leather.
When unfolded it is large and very easy to access, but when closed it is a compact, narrow package. Of course, like all bags and boxes here, once filled the size will increase.
The inside of the bag has multiple pockets for storing items, including a zipped mesh pocket. Two large mesh pockets hold large laptop chargers. Smaller pockets hold cables and small items.
The polyester fabric has a C6DWR treatment that repels water and stains. Once the bag is folded, the plastic clip forms a neat magnetic closure.
Ugreen makes some great tech accessories like chargers and cables, so perhaps creating a portable case to store these essentials is the way to go.
Its cable organizer is not just for storing cables. The shockproof and waterproof hard case has a large compartment divided into three parts that can accommodate multiple chargers, mobile power banks, mice, small hard drives, memory cards and several cables.
