I have been a fan of Grovemade for many years. Although I have always wanted to buy a wool desk pad since I first saw Grovemade in its early years, I never got around to it. Before that, I had my eye on the SteelSeries QcK Prism XL Cloth Gaming Mouse Pad with Dual-Zone RGB Lighting. Since I love RGB lighting, it seemed like a good fit. Unfortunately, its surface is covered in dust, lint, and dirt. In the end, I couldn’t resist and bought the Grovemade.
Wool felt mats will add style and organization to your office space. Made from high-quality 3mm merino wool felt that is warm and soft. The natural material makes it a great match for any type of countertop, including laminate, wood grain, and even metal countertops. There are four different sizes: small (24.75″ x 11″), medium (38″ x 11.5″), large (38.5″ x 26″), and extra large (49″ x 26.5″). The small and medium sizes are suitable for a keyboard and mouse, while the large size is more suitable for covering the entire desktop. The wool felt mat is not intended to be used as a writing surface, but it can be used with an optical mouse. The mat is available in two colors, dark and light, both of which are variations of gray. When I received the package, I was surprised to find a handwritten note that said, “Hi Nicholas, thank you for your order! -EP.” I feel like this is a lost art for companies. It’s refreshing and shows that they’ve double-checked their product and care about what they’re making, rather than just churning it out to save money. It only takes a few seconds, but can last a lifetime, turning a one-time consumer into a lifelong brand loyalist.
After reading the nice note above, I took a minute to check the mat on the table again. It was rolled and wrapped in the branded brown paper. I was surprised at how thin the mat on the table was. Since I had little experience with wool, I was worried that it might not be very durable. It turned out to be made of high-quality materials, and my concerns were immediately allayed.
I unrolled the mat and found it to be the same thickness as my previous RGB desk mat and about two inches longer than the previous one. This length is just right for me since it holds both the Apple Magic Keyboard and Magic TrackPad. If Grovemade could partner with a company like AUKEY or Steel Series to make a wool desk mat with RGB lighting, I would be willing to spend big bucks. I know it defeats the purpose of a classic wool desk mat, but I think it would end up looking nice.
I love this mat so much that I only have two suggestions. First, I could add some weights to the edges to make it easier to unfold when unrolled, and second, I could put some non-slip material on the bottom of the table mat to keep it from sliding. Other types of tables may not have issues with sliding, but my table top is white and very smooth. This means that unless there is something pressing on the table mat, it will slide around when in use.
Grovemade makes some of the best desk accessories in the industry. From monitor arms to pen holders, they’re the perfect addition to your desk. Will I miss my RGB lighting? Yes, it’s very nostalgic, but I also really like the feel and sophisticated look of the wool felt desk mat. So, would I buy this mat again? Yes, I think I would. Is it expensive? Yes, it is very expensive, but most quality products are expensive, and as the old saying goes, “you get what you pay for.” I’m very happy with this mat and think it will take my desk to the next level.

Great review ! I wanted to ask about this product from Grovemade. Does it shed the fine threads? I bought felt mats from another brand and found my table covered in tiny threads of felt that fell off the mats…
So Grovemade was losing little threads for about two days. It was bad, but now nothing is falling. Wonderful.
