BBA-ROYALS-YANKEES:HK — The Yankees sent out a virtually unrecognizable lineup against Heath Fillmyer on Saturday.
Vann, a ranger at Death Valley National Park, worked alongside Dillon. At Devils Hole, they gathered three empty beer cans as well as two empty boxes that had held shotgun ammunition, two live rounds and multiple spent shotgun shells. Dillon attempted to fingerprint the beer cans and swabbed them for DNA evidence. He even collected the underwear and entered it into the case file.
Bajada has since also gotten some cardigans and a wicker trunk from Rizzi, and has offered to baby-sit Rizzi’s 3-year-old son if she ever needed it. They plan on getting together for dinner one day.
The video continued to play in Wilson’s office. As one man swam, another remained at the edge of the water, while the drunkest one leaned against a rock. The swimmer climbed out of the water, dragged himself over the algae-covered shelf and got dressed. Then the party fled on their off-road vehicle.
Sixty thousand years ago, a narrow fissure opened up in the Amargosa Valley, releasing water pooled deep in the earth and creating Devils Hole, the opening to an underwater cavern. Scientists disagree over just how it happened—whether by way of underground tunnels, ancient floods or receding waters—but several desert fish were separated from the larger population and trapped in Devils Hole. There, a tiny sub-population—the Devils Hole pupfish (Cyprinodon diabolis)—evolved in extreme isolation for tens of thousands of years, eventually, according to scientific consensus, becoming an entirely new species.
“On Shabbat, our cholent consisted of beans and potatoes,” Aryeh recalls. “After kiddush, my mother told me, ‘Go to our neighbor and give him the first bowl.’ The first bowl is traditionally reserved for the head of household, but we were taught to give it to someone who had less than we did. When you are poor, not only are you humble, but you develop a sensitivity to others.”
“Georgian Cuisine and Tried Housekeeping Notes” was first published in 1874. Zviadi’s copy was a third edition, from 1914, with a foreword by the daughter of Barbare Jorjadze, its author. Jorjadze was born Barbare Eristavi in 1833, into a noble family of the Kakheti region, in eastern Georgia. Her mother died early. She was taught to read by her nanny, a literate peasant. Jorjadze also learned to embroider and to sew. She was a princess, technically. But her father couldn’t raise much of a dowry, and she was married off at the age of twelve to a much older military man. When a bat interrupted the ceremony, she chased it down the aisle, thinking it was part of a game. No one seems to know exactly when Jorjadze had her three children, but you can bet it wasn’t late.
Raid your cabinets and drawers to dress up plain Styrofoam balls. Kitchen twine looks rather rustic, and studded tacks add a glam serious factor.
I haven’t done any of the high-level content yet, but I’ve been told that the elemental resistances and optional skills all become far more important as you get involved with the later content. Even early on, I can tell the differences in the skills has a noticeable impact on my hunting, though. I like the idea of having a lot of systems granting small bonuses rather than few systems granting larger bonuses. Because so much of it is randomized, it eliminates a lot of the min-max that tends to rob a lot of joy from some games for me.
There is so much to love in Georgian food: lobiani, a bean-filled flatbread; khinkali, soup dumplings shaped like E.T.’s head; nadugi, a one-hand sandwich in which salty cheese serves as both wrapper (the skin) and filling (the curds). As Darra Goldstein explains, in “The Georgian Feast,” one of Georgian food’s hallmarks is its use of walnuts, whose richness is often set off with a souring agent, like vinegar or yogurt. Cilantro is the most common herb in Georgian cooking, but tarragon is the most talismanic, flavoring everything from stews to a carbonated drink that you can order at restaurants, like a Coke. Blue fenugreek is used frequently, as are dried and crushed marigold petals, but, if Georgian food has a presiding color, it’s green. Many of the most tantalizing parts of its repertoire derive from vegetables and fruits. I’m counting the days until I can try making chrianteli, a cold soup. Goldstein’s recipe brings to mind a William Carlos Williams poem: Pit and stem two pounds of cherries. Pass through a food mill. Mix the puréed fruit with one-eighth teaspoon salt, half a pressed garlic clove, and three minced sprigs of cilantro and dill. Chill. Garnish with minced scallion.
